I will say my favorite application method for the heat transfer vinyl on a mug was the mini iron.
In a previous video we showed you how to use a heat gun to apply htv to a coffee mug.
Now if you are going to hand wash your mugs you can probably use either adhesive vinyl or heat transfer vinyl and any of the application methods mentioned.
For more complicated textures or decals use a hair dryer on very low to soften the adhesive while pushing it into the grooves.

Now there is also the easypress mini that will work great for projects like these.
If any stickiness is left on top of the vinyl you can use an alcohol wipe to remove it without taking off the decal.
Apply transfer tape to your decal and scrape it down do not remove paper backing yet position decal on tumbler and use a ruler if necessary to make sure it s straight.
Keep in mind that too much heat will ruin vinyl but i have found a little bit of heat keeps the vinyl from bubbling as you place it on the curve surface.
