The factory drain hose on the dishwasher which runs from the dishwasher to the smaller of the two tailpieces on the air gap and a 7 8 inch inside diameter hose that runs from the other tailpiece on the air gap to the dishwasher nipple on the garbage disposal.
This can cause the water to drain improperly from your dishwasher or sink.

When a dishwasher hose connects to a sink without a garbage disposal an air gap a small slotted cylinder often made of stainless steel is installed on the top of the sink right by the faucet.

High loop to drain pull as much of the drain hose into the sink cabinet as possible.

Pull the dishwasher drain line from the side of the garbage disposal and place it in the bucket.
Pull the top off cover and see if the air gap is clogged with debris.
Long water lines aren t much of an issue since there s water mains pressure involved but too long drain hoses can be a detriment to proper draining if the pump isn t strong enough.
If you think this may be the problem check to see if the drain plug is still intact if it is remove it.
Sponges check the drain hose connected to your dishwasher and make sure it s still securely connected to the sink or garbage.
Sometimes when garbage disposals are installed the drain plug cover is accidentally left on.
Dishwashers are normally connected to the hot water supply and drain under the sink and of course also need electricity.
Try turning on the garbage disposal.
High loop to garbage disposal follow the same instructions as 1 except connect the dishwasher drain hose directly.
Make the high loop then attach.
If one is blocked there could be plumbing problems in the other also.
Check for a blocked air gap.
There s a clog in the sink.
